Event Etiquette

Catering Setup

Drop Off Catering - No Catering Staff

  • The food will be organized by Rebecca's Café on a table in your confirmed meeting or event location.
  • HGSE event coordinator (client) should arrive 15 minutes early to verify the order.

Full Service Events - Requires Catering Staff

  • Staffing is available upon request and is required for all events when alcohol is served, when food that requires an open flame (e.g. chafing dishes, grills, etc.) is served, or when there is an event that requires multiple meals, large head counts or rentals of serving ware.

Catering Clean-Up

For all drop off events, we ask that you ensure that participants have composted, recycled, or disposed of trash in the appropriate receptacles. This will help us to ensure that the next person with that room reserved will walk in to a clean space. Operations will break down the table, return all food service equipment, and straighten up the room.

GENERAL EVENT ETIQUETTE

Catering is provided across campus for many reasons. We host faculty, student, and staff events. We additionally hold events sponsored outside the HGSE community. When catering is set up in a common area, it can not be assumed that it is available for public consumption. It has most likely been ordered and paid for by a specific
group.

Catering that is not consumed by the group is still the property of the event organizer. Often leftovers are wanted by the sponsoring group who is anticipating packing them up at the end of their event. If catering has been left for public consumption, a sign will be posted. Otherwise, food and beverage should not be touched by a non-participant.

It will be at the discretion of the Operations Department as to whether food is still suitable for consumption based on food safety guidelines. If food has been sitting out for an extended period of time or in hazardous temperatures, it will not be permitted to be consumed by anyone.
