The Planning + Design team works collaboratively within the Operations department with a focus on space assignment, the planning of non-capital projects, the development and maintenance of HGSE furniture standards, graphic design projects, ADA and campus signage standards, rent management, programming, consultant management for capital projects, and strategic master planning for the broader HGSE community. The team works under the general guidance of the Director of Planning + Design, who directly reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In all its assignments and projects, the Planning + Design team seeks to reinforce the critical platform of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging central to the broader missions of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard University through thoughtful and impactful design.

Construction projects include office space assignments, moves and office improvements including furniture needs. Please review our detailed project descriptions in this section.

All space planning, design, construction, and moves at HGSE are managed by the Operations Department.

- Proposed/requested projects are prioritized based on alignment with the campus master plan, budget constraints, and overall need.
- [Submit this form](https://www.netcasters.com/cgi-bin/hgse/dms/request.pl) if you have an improvement or project that you would like completed.
- A project manager will work with you to develop a scope, schedule, and budget for your proposed project.
- From there, the project manager will work with you on the next steps in seeking approval for your proposed project.
- If a project is not approved in the current fiscal year, it will be reviewed and considered for the next fiscal year.
- All project requests must be submitted by a department head or faculty member (a faculty assistant can submit on behalf of faculty members).
